Professional Development is any type of continuing education effort by the educators. These can be attained through conferences, meetings, webinars, and training.
How relevant is the continuing professional development of teachers to his work? Does it have an impact on his students? How does it affect him as an educator?
The learner is the center of the teaching-learning process, undeniable truth in the world of pedagogy. But part of the teaching-learning process is the teacher. It takes two to tango as the familiar saying goes, to attain quality education.
In different parts of the world, institutions are providing their educators with platforms to improve themselves. An indication that they truly acknowledge the essential role of their teachers in the learnings of their students.
In the Philippines, Dep Ed provides unlimited seminars, webinars, and training to help teachers gain the necessary knowledge for their continuous professional development. Reliable speakers with expertise are invited to discuss topics that are a big help to the attendees. Activities are provided too, to apply the learnings learned from the training.
I, therefore, conclude that the Professional Development of Teachers is a must. Teachers should not stop learning. As his learnings would reciprocate to his learners. If a teacher change for the better so is his students. If by his continued professional development he becomes a more critical thinker so do his learners. All the teachers do, are in any way connected to their students. If a teacher is confident in all his doings, it will reflect his learners too.
Department of Education encourages teachers to take CPD webinars, seminars, training, and the likes to continue improving themselves. I think that is very important so the teaching community would be able to have quality education. And quality education produces quality students that would become the next entrepreneurs, leaders, professionals that would lead our country.
