Protect Pupils from Peer Pressure

Teachers  are “loco parentis” in the school thus must protect pupils from different  pressures especially those from peers.

Some ways of helping the pupils to fight peer pressure are :

  1. Take time to listen from pupils – Hear and understand what they say.   Make an extra effort and time to listen to them.
  2. Help pupils to face fears – Guide pupils to face their fears by explaining them the possible outcomes of his/ her actions.
  3. Practice sessions must be held – Reenact some situations wherein pupils can experience  peer pressures. Let them build skills and confidence .
  4. Promote self-respect – encourage pupils to perform task appropriate to his age and treat him with respect.
  5. Appreciate Positive Peers – Motivate pupils to join positive peers don’t pose negative effects or them by saying “no”.
  6. Intervene with Love – There are times pupils commit mistakes in choosing or following “bad peers” instead of showing disappointment or resentment offer them with love and understanding.

These are some ways we can help our pupils to be shielded from peer pressures.
