The election season is over again. Our candidates delivered their appetizing platforms. We heard them speak and we somehow felt their sincerity. Now that the people has spoken, there is no way but to move on and keep our hopes high. As a public health professional, it is a part of my conscience to vote for public health. I am a nurse in a public health institution and I see the need of our underprivileged folks. The need to be provided with quality health care. It is with high hopes that public health be given importance in the years ahead.

Our population is constantly growing and our environment poses a lot of health risks. The growing industrialization in Bataan, in particular, has posed health challenge for our people. We are more exposed to relatively dangerous wastes produced by industrialization. While we are progressing, the public health services must be given the opportunity to address public health hazards through greater financing of medical facilities and medical supplies. More than treatment of diseases, the prevention of such should also precede our activities. Our incoming leaders in the government should strike a balance between progress and healthy communities.

The election season has promised a lot to our people. It is our hope that our health services could take on to a new level of quality service delivery. We can if we have the will to do it. .
