For some people, reading is a hobby. It is their way to ease boredom. Some people read because they want to experience adventure. For them, reading is like traveling to different places.

In the Philippines, there’s a law known as RA#7743 which is all about public libraries and reading centers in every barangay. The government provides a place in every community wherein people especially learners can be able to read, do research, and accomplish their home works. Through these public libraries and reading centers, students will have access to different kinds of books to further enhance their knowledge.

In different parts of the world too, public libraries are located everywhere. In fact, in some countries, books are being left on the streets so anybody can read them anytime.

What are the benefits of having public libraries and reading centers in the communities? In this digital age, do people still go to public libraries?

No matter how advanced the technologies are nowadays, wherein access to any kind of information is just a click away, people still go to public libraries to read. For them, these are places close to being compared to home. People can relax, enjoy reading and stay for a little while, all cost-free.

Public libraries and reading spaces should be provided in every community for these would greatly benefit every single individual living in that place. All people from different walks of life read and need a place to disconnect to reality sometimes so it would be a great idea if the government would provide this kind of place.
