Some say great leaders are born not made, while some are born leaders, many others developed their leadership skills through practice. Learning how to be a more effective leader is within everyone grasp. Becoming a successful leader requires more than just hardwork. Leading the organization with both head and heart can make you a highly effective leader.
Leader must be passionate and creative while leading the organization to success. He/she has to try to think out of the box to have good visions and to come up with effective strategies that will help advance the vision and goals of the organization. Managing everyone’s talent can develop excellence and better future for the organization. Aside from these personal traits, below are list of qualities and traits of great leaders you can learn and practice.
Good communicator
Leaders must possess an outstanding communication skills. Leaders must be able to communicate effectively in a group to develop a good rapport and deliver the message effectively. Few leaders have the power of persistence or the ability to get people work together in one goal. Luckily, this is the skill that can be learned and develop.
Team Player
The importance of working in a team is to ensure that people with common taste, preference, liking, and attitude work together to accomplish a common goal.Team work is essential in an organization for better output and a better bonding among stakeholders. Workload is shared and individuals feel motivated to perform better than his team members. We should take note that, even the best leaders cannot tackle most jobs alone. They need to have and to motivate followers to become involved in getting the job done. They must trust other people to get a job done and they must be able to delegate.
A leader needs to be honest and trustworthy. Most people will believe and follow someone they trust. Openness is the characteristics that most people appreciate. There are a few people who will take advantage of such traits, but majority of the group will appreciate them.
Planner/Organizer
Before the start of the day, make a list of tasks that need your immediate attention. Set aside unimportant tasks and organize it properly. Some tasks need to be completed on that day only while other unimportant tasks could be carried forward to next day. In short, prioritize your tasks to focus on those that are more important. It is better to make a simple ‘To Do’ list before the start of the day, prioritize the tasks, and make sure that they are attainable.
If we were to sum up, a great leaders has to have a balanced personality and skills. He/she needs to develop for the advancement and achieving one common goal.
