Every science teacher must possess the following qualities in order to be successful in the profession:

  1. Must have sincerity of purpose.
  2. Must be studious and learned.
  3. Must be a good communicator of ideas.
  4. Must have simple speaking.
  5. Must be fair in terms of behavior and attitude.
  6. Must be a hard worker and responsible.
  7. Must have an affectionate behavior.
  8. Must possess patience.
  9. Must have leadership and love for discipline.

 

A science teacher must have love to the profession.  He/she should be serious, sincere and committed to his/her duties and work.

 

 

Since knowledge, concept, theory or data will be his/her primary concerns, a science teacher must have a taste for reading or be a wide reader.

 

A science teacher must convey the ideas very well to the students in order to be effective.

A science teacher must make things simple in order to avoid confusion. Clarity in expression would be advisable.

A science teacher must avoid prejudices most especially in dealing with students.  Moreover, he should be fair in dealing with them during class interaction.

A science teacher should be an epitome of hard work and responsibility.  He/she must motivate students to learn.

 

A science teacher must establish an atmosphere of love and affection in the class.

A science teacher must have enough patience most especially during the activities that demand more time, explanation and guidance to students.

A science teacher must emanate the traits of a leader and manage the class well with discipline.

m. Must have self-confidence.

 

A science teacher must demonstrate confidence in teaching and in facing the students.

n. Must have mastery of the subject.

A science teacher should have profound knowledge of the subject for the benefit of the students.

o. Must have knowledge of other subjects.

A science teacher should be well-versed and must have knowledge on other subjects.

     p. Must have scientific thinking and attitude.

A good science teacher must imbibe scientific thinking and attitude in thoughts and actions.

     q. Must have efficiency in the preparation and use of teaching aids.

A science teacher should have sufficient skill in improvising and constructing his/her own aids in teaching of science according to the local needs and situations..

    r. Must have a taste of scientific activities.

A good science teacher must have a taste on organizing and participating in scientific activities like establishment of science museum and science club, organizing scientific excursions and science fairs and engaging in the purposeful scientific hobbies.

s. Must have a knowledge of the methods of teaching science.

It is also essential for a science teacher for being trained in the latest techniques, strategies and methodology of teaching science including the use of the all types of aid materials and developed technology.
