Learning doesn’t have to be between the parents and the students only. A teacher’s contribution is also an essential. A teacher’s presence helps the students to pay attention to a certain subject. What the teacher does also reflects to the students. If a teacher is just forced to teach then the students will also be forced to learn. And if a teacher loves what he is doing then the students will not just love the subject but will also open a window of special communication to their teachers. Thus, learning comes very easy.

Teacher is defined as a person that teaches certain subjects, but it’s not simple as that. Being a teacher it is said to be the noblest profession and a mission. The teacher is the manager of the teaching-learning situation, the facilitator of learning, and the evaluator of their student’s achievements. Hence, he must be a model to all his students in all aspects of life. Children are good imitator and they usually make their teachers their role models. Hence he must possess qualities befitting a teacher.

  1. Mastery of the subject matter. 
  2. Mastery of the method and tools of teaching.
  3. Mastery of psychology of learning or educational psychology.
  4. Mastery of lesson plan and subject matter organization.
  5. Mastery of national philosophy goals and objectives.
  6. Mastery of instructional goals and objectives.
  7. Mastery of classroom management.
  8. Mastery of measurement and evaluation achievement.
  9. Mastery of spiritual and moral values.
  10. Mastery of grooming techniques.
  11. Mastery of human relations.
  12. Mastery of leadership techniques.
  13. Health
  14. Missionary spirit.
  15. Basic knowledge of guidance and counseling.
  16. Punctuality and enthusiasm.
  17. Respect for authority.
  18. Ability to evoke analytical and critical thinking.’
  19. Clean sense of humor.

A teacher who loves teaching gives knowledge. But a teacher who appreciates learning shares wisdom. A teacher by passion and not by profession. Teaching being a teacher’s passion is of great worth because enjoyment and happiness is a communicable feeling. You will not be an effective person if you do not love what you are doing. It is wise to presume that whatever personality one has is definitely different from others. We should consider treating others differently. It will help us in our dealings with our students. We just need to be sensitive to feel what they and be willing to assist. We should therefore as a teacher consider treating others differently. It will help us teaching as an educational endeavor, refers to vital role of teachers in engaging students in activities that will enable them to acquire knowledge and skills at the same time develop worthwhile values and attitude. Teacher must maintain stature and behavior that upholds the dignity of teaching. Manifest personal qualities like enthusiasm, flexibility, caring attitude and others. Most important, abide the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers.
