The K to 12 Program requires an efficient and effective teacher in order to realize its educational goals and objectives.  This necessitates the qualities that will define a great teacher.

 

Efficiency and effectiveness of a teacher are inseparable.  They always complement each other. If efficiency is applied, effectiveness is resulted.

 

To better describe an efficient and effective teacher, the following qualities must be considered:

 

An efficient and effective teacher anticipates the future.  He/she is cognizant with the rapid changing world that is why he/she sets educational goals, objectives, approaches, methods and strategies which suit the learners.  He/she must ensure that the child is focused in preparing himself/herself for the world.

 

An efficient and effective teacher must provide ample attention to the needs of the learners.  He/she knows the necessary things the child needs in order to discover knowledge and acquire skills.  He/she is sensitive enough to answer to their emotions, whims and wishes.

 

An efficient and effective teacher must be fair.  He/she must be just in dealing with people and with various situations.  All the students must be treated well regardless of intellectual attainment, color, race, religion, wealth, physical condition and among others.

 

An efficient and effective teacher must be consistent. He/she does things on regular manner and not deviating from the standards expected from a teacher by the society.

 

An efficient and effective teacher must be smart and caring.  He/she must  always be ready to listen to students whenever they need assistance and guidance.   He/she must have warmth and sincerity in dealing with them most especially when they are in trouble.

 

An efficient and effective teacher must be considerate.  He/she treats the students as his own children.  He regards them dearly, showing care and compassion.

 

An efficient and effective teacher must be passionate and enthusiastic at all times.  He/she is much eager in showing great interest in executing his duties and responsibilities.

 

An efficient and effective teacher always wears a smile.  He/she does not consider the job as a burden instead as opportunity to serve.

 

These are the qualities in order to become an efficient and effective teacher.
