COVID- 19 has brought rapid change to almost every aspect of life around the world and one of the sectors it has affected is education. But despite of this the Department of Education did not waver in its belief that education must continue despite the pandemic so in its preparation the teachers and principals underwent comprehensive training in various learning modalities. At various levels, the trainings continued with much emphasis on the ICT skills of teachers which doesn’t received much attention before COVID-19. At the same time, the school heads are planning on the distance learning modalities of the children in the upcoming class opening which is also known as Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP). The people needed to convey these changes in the field of ICT skills are the teachers with intermediate and advanced knowledge in the use of technology in teaching and learning platforms.
It is big challenge to develop partners among fellow professionals across each grade level from kindergarten to floating teachers who will accept this new challenge in teaching and almost almost impossible due to resistance to change. Once again, the teachers proved that they will not be shaken despite the pandemic to deliver quality education. And as part of this different proposal on School Webinars on Readiness For Online Instruction were approved and conducted in the initiative and facilitation of Division and Schools’ ICT coordinators. In order to overcome this it is necessary to further train skills especially in the selection and use of technology in distance learning among educators.
