Today’s high-tech generation has a lot of other things that they can be busy with, there’s video games, social networking, television, gadgets and so much more. That is why they are missing out one of the best thing in this life. Reading.
Many Philosopher said that reading is empowering once mind.
If you ever you come across Google again try typing ‘quotes about reading’ and you’ll see how many links there are out there.
It is the proof how indeed empowering reading is. That is the reason why young people should learn the art of reading. It doesn’t necessarily mean reading textbooks or modules. But in education those are preferably so. But they can as well read other genre’s such, sci-fi, fiction, non-fiction, biography, history and many others.
Reading not only sharpens the mind, but it can also enhance the imagination and logical skills. It also expands the vocabulary and grammar knowledge of students.
Although, not all can afford books, especially English books. But of course there are some ways to get around that conflict.
There are book sales and bazaars that sell books in relatively lower and more affordable price. In Recto Avenue, Manila you can easily find shops where in you can buy secondhand books in good conditions and with reasonable prices, you can also make a deal of trade for your old book. And alongside the high-tech age reading grows with it. There are also available books on-line, in forms of PDF files and E-Books, what’s great are that it is for free.
So there are no excuses for not being able to access books.
