READING AS A HABIT

Wikipedia describes reading as routines of behavior that are repeated regularly and tend to occur subconsciously. In other words, habits are having a establish course of action. They say, habits when learned are not easy to unlearn. That is why, it is important for us to have and form a habit that is desirable. Those habits that tend to bring positive results, those that will make us better and good not the other way around. Vices for instance, are not good as a habit. On the contrary, reading as a habit is certainly worthy having. Learning to read habitually will not only bring joy but a positive outlook in life as well.

                A child should be encouraged to read habitually not only for school but for life, not only in school but also at home. Parents should urge their children to read than to play on computers. There should be time for both (reading and playing). Parents should serve as role models to their children. If parents are book lovers, certainly their children will tend to be book lovers, too. Furthermore, having books at home will do a big help in making a child read. Teachers on the other hand, are also responsible in making their child to love reading. Reading in the classroom is inevitable since it is a part of the learning process. That is why, a child who reads more learns more. Providing great opportunities for reading will help a child appreciate more the written symbol. In addition, a reading corner in every classroom can be of great help in making children read more.

                There are varied ways by which we can make our children read habitually. Do not hesitate to try new scheme or alternatives and you will see the results in the long run.
