RETIREMENT: NOT BEING TIRED AND IRE

The dust of the chalkboard, the arrangement of chairs and tables, the turning of pages of the books, the scribbles in notebooks, the corrections on each homework are just some of the few things that they can miss as they spend most of their time in the homeroom than any other places. The preparation of lesson plans and instructional materials, the observation and guidance of their supervisors, the challenge of guiding students, and the fulfillment from the active participation and good grades of the learners are just some of the responsibilities that they treasure because these honed them in their profession

This is how teachers conclude their classes and this is one of the lines that teachers would not forget as they conclude their teaching profession.

Change is inevitable, as they say, one moment it is your first day as a teacher and another moment, you are about to retire. Changes happen a lot; educational system, learners’ way of learning, parents’ support, and community involvement and these changes

affect the teaching profession. Teachers adapted to these changes, they learn continuously so they can teach competently.

Being a teacher does make someone rich in money but being one makes someone rich in respect and in appreciation. Teachers are not called teachers inside the classroom and within their service but they are called teachers anytime and anywhere. A learner who remembers his teacher even after a number of years had passed makes a teacher’s heart flutter; as the learner remembers how the teacher contributed to this life.

Retirement is also inevitable; teachers should also enjoy the fruits of their years of service. Spend more time with God, families and friends, travel and a lot more activities that they deserve because of their valuable service as one of the catalysts in the lives of their learners.

They are still teachers in their hearts and in the hearts of their students and colleagues. They are still teachers in how they act, they speak and they think. They are still teachers because they still have the passion and dedication in them. Retirement does not stop them from being teachers, retirement makes them proud of being a teacher.

“That is all for today, class!”

This is how teachers conclude their classes and this is one of the lines that teachers would not forget as they conclude their teaching profession.
