It is good to start the school year right with the appropriate classroom management practices.  This will lead the teacher to efficiently and effectively manage the learners for their own educational benefits.

Here are the valuable tips for teachers to ponder:

First, brainstorm classroom goals together.  The teacher will let the students write their school goals that will help to achieve a well-disciplined and orderly class and tell them to share these ideas before their peers. Eventually, the suggestions will be consolidated and then come up with the general guidelines for the entire class to follow.

Be able to write the combined ideas on a poster board for the students to be guided during the duration of the entire school year.  Through this, the students will feel that their thoughts and voices are being heard and they won’t feel any restriction since they are the ones who recommended the rules or guidelines to be adhered.  It’s really a wonderful job!

Secondly, have a checkbook of their behavior.  A student will have his/her own log book of his behavior.  In there, he/she will record the incident that he/she is indulged with.  If he/she committed any violation in the class or in school, he/she will suggest a solution for good reformation.  The child will be given a freedom to realize his mistakes and write a practical means to resolve the situation.  Remember, this will be in strict confidentiality and only the child, the adviser and the parent will have the chance to read.

In this way, the child will be given the chance to explain his/her side on a given situation and will be given an opportunity to rectify his/her error thus building his/her good character.

Third, yield a ‘secret star’ for orderly lines.  This is a great means to reward a child who is very much orderly and who religiously follows the rules.  The teacher must always have an eye for the obedient ones and reward them with good incentives that will boost their morale.

The teacher will announce the ‘secret star’ at the end of the day.  Through this, every child will be conscious of his/her behavior and consequently create a disciplined character that manifests suitable deeds in school.

Fourth, let the children realize the avoidance of ‘stinky fish’ in the class.  Have time for the student to cite behaviors which they don’t want to see in the class.  Have them share the disadvantages of these actions.

By means of this, they will be able to see the scenario if any undesirable behavior is existent in the classroom that will be a big hindrance in their learning process.

Fifth, have your students call their peers for seamless student grouping.  One way to effectively manage the class is to put them into groups.  Learners love to work in groups.   If they are trained to be together in an orderly manner, they themselves will emit enviable character during their interaction.

Through this, harmony within each other will be built.  Furthermore, it will be easier for the teacher to manage the class very well.

By means of these suggestive classroom management practices, a teacher may find a right classroom atmosphere for the benefit of his/her dear learners.
