School Based Management, an initiative of the Department of Education aims to raise the levels of student performance. Through this program, schools and communities shared partnership to help the school increase its resources and attain better learning outcomes. It also strengthens the culture of excellence and accountability in instruction and management
The main goal of SBM is to improve school performance and student achievement. Some of its objectives are to empower the school heads in leading their teachers and pupils through programs, practices and activities that will result to an improved and effective school, bring resources down to the control of schools to bring change, strengthen partnership with communities as well as local government units and integrate school management and instructional reform to make the successful.
School Based Management is a big challenge to school administrators because school problems must be sowed and decision must be made and the lowest organizational level. The central office, regional and division offices will serve as their guides on education policy directions and quality standards.
