Every opening of the school year, teachers, parents and other stakeholders come together to prepare a conducive and safe environment in the school. DEPED advocates bayanihan in the school, the so called “ Brigada Eskwela “. It is the government’s primary concern to secure a good environment for better learning of the pupils.
Brigada Eskwela is a school maintenance project with the spirit of Bayanihan. It involves donations of labor, resources and time by the school personnels, stakeholders and community members in preparation for the opening of the new school year.
Teachers, parents and civic organizations work together in solving school problems such as cleanliness of the classrooms and surroundings, repair of equipments and other facilities making them functional, adequacy of tables and chairs for the school children, repair of roofs, ceiling, walls, windows, doors and construction of comfort rooms, repainting of classrooms, etc.
With the spirit of Bayanihan, Brigada Eskwela helps the government ease its expenditures because everything is done for charity. More importantly, the readiness and efficiency of school facilities are put in its ready use for schoolers before the opening of the school year.
