Parents, pupil and even some of us believe the quality education is the sole responsibility of the school. Actually, it’s not. Although it is the primary role of educational institutions to provide quality education, it should be also community’s responsibility as well. The support given by the community plays an integral part in the school’s success.
To render the quality education needed by our pupils, it is vital to build a partnership between the school and the community. A partnership wherein the school initiates the move for a positive linkage, nurture it and sustain it in the long term. A relationship with mutual respect and trust leads to shared responsibility that soon will open doors and opportunities to have the best of both worlds. As everyone knows, children who are educated well will result in a developed community.
As teacher, we should not limit ourselves in the four corners of our classroom. We should help the school by involving other stakeholders to imbibe the projects and activities that are being pushed through. We should continue the quest for the improvement of the school. For we all know, this will benefit each of us. Most of all, the kids.
A successful school – community partnership is the key to enhance school’s achievement. And it is one of the responsibilities of the teachers as members of the community. More heads are much better than one and as usual, more helping arms maximize the outcome.
