Education is important in enabling people to reach their full potential and exercise other rights. This rights should not be disappeared or suspended because of disasters.
We are not able to stop the earth from shaking and we cannot predict where the fire will start to attack. However, we can prevent these events from becoming disasters by giving clear information, planning and response preparedness.
A School orientation on the disaster risk reduction is the important types of preparedness of pupils, teachers and parents in case a disaster occurs. The purpose of it is to help them learn how to react appropriately at the first indication of natural calamity so that they have an idea where to seek shelter, how to protect themselves, and what to do immediately afterwards.
Every school should conduct an orientation on earthquake and fire preparedness and information in order for the pupils and teachers on what to do before, during and after the disaster. Everybody should be informed how to properly face and react to any unforeseen emergency situations and scenarios. Moreover, problems with planned responses can be identified and corrected.
The School Safety Preparedness Orientation is an important event that should be initiated during the opening of classes in order to raise the awareness and provide guidance to everyone in ensuring the safety and preparedness.
