Inside the classroom, self-control is a  trait that must be employed strictly by teachers,

especially when it comes to self and students’discipline.  For teachers, this constitutes the  next

importantconcern.as part of good management.  No matter how well-managed a learning

environment is ,students will occasionally misbehave.  Teachers must be ready to deal with them

with utmost care and consideration.  They must practice self-control, even how unfavorable the learning conditions are.  You may consider yourself as just human who loses self-control once in a while, however, you should admit that when you lose self-control inside the classroom , you are the loser.

There are different aspects in life wherein an individual loses self-control, e.g. when a situation is not favorable to them, like unruly mob, meeting individuals who have no self-discipline , or even in a situation that you are almost tempted to do a certain action; like over- eating, and as classroom teacher, everyday mingling with students in an over-crowded room with unruly children  may tend a teacher to be stressed and lose his/her self control.

As teachers, let us be reminded that students come from varied backgrounds.  According to Corpuz and Salandanan (2007), the students bring to the classroom a surprising record of individual attitudes, interests and abilities .Said characteristics could be traced from their differences in family background, physical and mental capacities, and emotional traits among others.  Students bred in families with different socio-economic backgrounds may exhibit characteristics that are different from the rest. Disciplinary measures practice in different homes may cause unfavorable consequences as they relate with one another.

It is important to work on weak areas. The first part of the word self-control, which is self, seems to lead to the notion that a teacher can do something about inward emotional problems that may exist.  Further, a good number of behaviorists seem to agree  that the will is involved in this self-control process.  It appears that the real way to overcome a problem with self-control results from the solutions evolving from a person demonstrating the problem.  This might stimulate a person to deal with one or more type of emotions.

The second part of the word self-control, which is control, indicates that existing problems can be solved.  Control under this type of reasoning seems to denote that a person may solve a problem and control it.  However, one must remember that control means not to quit trying at a specified time, it is often the rule that some people compared to others need extra time to solve a given problem.  Also, a problem may continue at various levels.  In any situation, a person, teacher or not need to aim for self-control.

As II Peter I:6-7 puts it “To knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and brotherly kindness, love.  For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
