In the work industry whether it is big or small or simple or complex ,we need a pool of people that will work hand in hand to accomplish the targeted goal/s. Good teamwork and unselfish motive are necessary to achieve the desired outputs. It also goes to say that people will be able to move and won’t remain stationary when a leader who gives the moving orders sets the right example to follow.
A leader who keeps up in delivering good examples during group activities and other tasks usually gains the admiration and respect of his subordinates. This characteristic is observed to be the distinction between a boss and a manager. A nagging boss usually tells his workers to carry on and do the work right minus the human concern. On the other hand, a real manager keeps his orders in a more subtle and motivating manner using the collective term “we” in addressing subordinates.
In issuing marching orders it is consoling for the rest team to know that the role of the one managing the process is consistent from the start until the job is completely accomplished. There will be follow ups in between, consultative exchanges and the appreciative manners that a leader can display during the extent of the activity. When a group is building up something, it goes to say that a good leader also builds up relationship.
Through role modeling, the initiative of each member of the group is enhanced and stimulated. When established, work becomes a genial endeavor rather than a stressful or frightening one. Thus, we could say that the important aspect of promoting good example in the workplace is when it becomes a habit to a leader. It would mean that whatever the undertaking is, the practice of the system will find its consistency in developing potential leaders from among the lower rank. Setting good examples for others to follow will spring new leaders as well.
In summation, the bottom line of an effective management process is empowerment through role modeling and setting of good examples. Not only that, it is in this manner of leadership we can expect that work is not always stressful but it can be more fun and more fulfilling.
