No matter what kind of situation a teacher is into such as a day full of challenges, no matter how stressful the work can be with overloading rush paper works/reports, no matter how many years of teaching experience you have, there are certain things teachers should never do.

Here is a list of teachers’ No-No’s things that can create problems for you as a teacher and could also be damaging to your career.

1. Lose your temper

Teachers sometimes lose their cool in the classroom, get irritated with students, and struggle to maintain composure at one time or another. So, if you feel yourself getting angry it might be a good idea to step out of the room and remove yourself from the situation.

2. Make fun of students

Never ever make fun of students or shame them when they ask for help, it is great for a teacher to be able to use humor in the classroom and also show students how to laugh at themselves. Just be careful that your jokes aren’t aimed at particular students.

3. Sit down

Sitting down when teaching delivers a message of laziness. When in the classroom, teachers should be up on their feet and moving around, it is time to interact, and lead the students.

4. Be late

Be as punctual as you possibly can, and when you are late be sure to apologize to students. Being chronically late shows student it is acceptable for them to be late as well.

5. Play favourites

It is natural to hit off with certain students, just be sure that you are fair to all the students in your class and give everyone adequate consideration and praise.

6. Claim to have all the answers

Teachers are not walking encyclopedias. When your students ask you a question that you really don’t know the answer to, fess up, you aren’t perfect. You can also use that moment to teach them to find the information themselves.

7. Yell

This doesn’t mean you won’t have to raise your voice once in awhile. Teachers who yell all the time are those with the worst classes. Remember, once you’ve yelled you’ve lost the battle.

8. Become friends with students while they are in class

Don’t try to be too friendly or get too close with your students on a personal level. You should be friendly but not become friends. Stay professional and make sure the students know who’s in charge.

9. Crass in Class

Teacher’s words are powerful, so use them wisely. Always use language that is appropriate. Remember, what you say is what your students say too.

10. Give up

Teaching is a challenging work. No matter what time of the school year, your students deserve your best. If you see some obstacles in the classroom, don’t give up, find possible solutions to it.
