Teachers are faced with the challenge of having a smart presentation. The pressure that goes with preparing the presentation adds up to the thought of how to start the presentation and make it interesting for everyone. It is always hard to start a presentation, but once you’re there, it flows naturally.
How to do it? Let these SMART tips be of great help.
- Share interesting quotations or data. Quotations give inspiration to listeners. The minds of great writers are rich source of inspiring quotations and data. Sharing an interesting one will set the mood of the audience.
- Make your audience at ease. Exert an effort to establish a good rapport with your audience. Delivering a presentation and discussion becomes easier when a common interest exists between the speaker and the audience and this eases the tension.
- Ask questions. Make your audience think. Your audience should not simply listen. Make their minds work and encourage everyone to participate in the discussions. This will eliminate your boredom and trigger a more lively and engaging discussion.
- Relax through tension breakers. Adopt measures where your audience and you can relax from the tension that builds during the presentation and discussion. But be wary of the timing when to inject tension breakers.
- Tell a story. A related story can reinforce your presentation. You can also encourage someone from the audience to share a story to make the discussion interactive.
A SMART beginning of the presentation augurs well for the audience and this eases the tension and anxiety the speaker feels. So the next time you start a presentation, be sure to make it SMART.
