School problems are very common among the pupils and the parents. Most often, problems crop up from assignments and other school works. These problems become the cause of conflict between parents and children. How do we get away with this friction?
Problems presented should never be solved if we’re feeling rushed or agitated. A difficult problem can be solve easier if we are in a clear state of head, have inner calm and have enough time. Parents commit the mistake of rushing through the problem without hearing the side of their children. Violent reactions from parents only worsen the situation. Usually, children are not willing to work on solving a problem until their feelings have been heard and understood.
Likewise, there is need to express our feeling briefly. Children have short attention span and would listen to attentively to short statements of their parents. When parents utter a lot, children become frustrated. The key is listen to the children’s problems since it is their problem.
There is also the need to evaluate the suggestion of the children. Do not give comments which can be off the wall. Always have ways to explore other possibilities. If plans miscarry, have a heart and keep on supporting by helping the children evaluate what went wrong and how a new and better solution can be achieved.
