It is said that at present it is hard to catch the keen attention of the learners because they are too much mediated and attracted to modern technology and gadgets. A lot of pupils don’t even bother to spend time in reading books and focusing on other educational activities. But don’t lose hope because there is always a solution to every problem. It also takes a lot of efforts but the result is truly fulfilling.
Here are ways to stimulate the pupil’s interest to school and to learning:
At first inspire him/her of the value of education. It is the best way to win the heart of a learner. The teacher must enlighten his/her mind and spirit of the genuine worth of what he/she is doing in school. Lead him/her to more inspiring stories of success or triumph because of education. Inculcating the essence of education would be a lifetime wisdom to the pupil.
Secondly, motivate the child. In motivating the child, the teacher must expose him/her to a variety of learning experiences that would be inviting and challenging. The child is always attracted to the things which are new and dynamic. Learning could be fun and zestful if he/she is properly motivated.
Thirdly, encourage the child to be at his best at all times. It is very much fulfilling if the child is exerting his extreme efforts in the attainment of certain goals and in cultivating all his talents, intelligences and potentialities. It is better if he/she competitive in performing tasks.
Fourth, arouse the child’s self esteem. Develop in him/her the confidence that he/she can do things even better. If a child is trusted then that is the time that he/she will spread his/her wings to soar higher. It is said that a confident man is doing better or even the best in learning.
Fifth, cheer up his spirit. A child must be a person with positive or optimistic outlook in life. If has an affirmative disposition, everything will go smoothly and well, having no hang ups and barriers. School and learning in this sense would definitely yield positive connotation.
Sixth, appreciate and recognize the child’s attainments and contributions. In this way, the learner would feel his value or worth as a productive member of the educational community.
Stimulating the child’s interest to embrace learning will no longer be difficult. Teachers should only consider these ways and life would be better, not only for the teacher but also for the learner as well.
It should start from the teacher and then the pupil’s interest will be stimulated to the good promises of education.
