Everybody loves to read story. We spent a lot of time reading short story, novels and other forms of literature handed down from our forefathers. We after hear from the mouth of others that they get moral lesson through reading. We spent a lot of money on them – as well as – whether it’s for books by our favorite authors or DVD’s of our favorite films – and our life seems enjoyable if we read a lot of books which seems related to one’s life.
For without doubt, we often times learn a lot from that stories. A romance novel may give a better picture of life especially those who belong to teenage life. And of course, we learn a lot about life by reading great tales of famous writer whether American or English writer.
It therefore makes a lot of sense for us to use storytelling as pedagogical tool in out class, not only will this allow us to get our students to enjoy the time they spend with us. If we are good at it, we can integrate fully to the lesson we are teaching and the student will feel what we are teaching.
Here are some guides which will help in our quest for effective teacher story teller. One is, show that you mean it – you must be confident on what you are teaching. Secondly, stimulate their senses – painting vivid picture while they are listening. Lastly, take it seriously – which means you should have fun in teaching story and have lot of preparations since you come up with in the story.
Trust us, they’ll appreciate, trust us, they’ll learn more.
