Philippine education system was enhanced from the ten years of basic education to a twelve year program through an innovative called the K-12 Education sponsored by the Department of Education. Implementing of this program attune the development of our nation.
Secondary schools offer different programs for the students to choose such as Science and Technology in Engineering Program (STEP), Basic Education Program (BEC), Special Program for Foreign Language (SPFL), Special Program for Hearing Impaired (SPHI), Special Program of Arts (SPA) and lastly the Strengthened Technological Vocational Education Program (STVEP).
What is STVEP? It is an effective strategy to properly address the perennial problem of poverty, designed to provide utmost development of the individual as a total person equipped with technological-vocational and academic competencies, proper work ethics and desirable values that will make the person economically-stable, responsible, law-abiding, productive and competitive in the world of work.
This program offers the following majors such as Computer Hardware Servicing that provides knowledge and skills in diagnosing and troubleshooting problems of personal computer systems, networks, software and its parts. The program trains the students in fixing computers, replacing defective parts and having the computer system back to normal operation as well as maintaining computer systems and networks;
WhileCosmetology it is the study and application of beauty treatment. Branches of specialty are hairstyling, skin care, cosmetics, manicure and pedicure, and electrology.Then Electronics, a major which deals with electrical circuits that involve active electrical components such as vacuum tubes, transistors, diodes and integrated circuits, and associated passive electrical components and interconnection technologies. Another one is the Electicity. Amajor that introduces the basic law of electricity, sources of electricity and safety procedures when working with electricity. It also lets the students learn to read wiring diagrams and, circuits, capacitors, resistors, transformers, motors, and switches will also be studied. The fifth major is Food Technology, a branch of food science that deals with the production processes of food making. It involves the scientific preparation, processing and distribution of foods. Lastly, Garments, (dressmaking or tailoring) it is the craft of sewing or making a garment especially to specific measurements.
Tech-voc education will not only be revived but strengthened to lead the student’s bright future.
