The Covid-19 pandemic caused a catastrophe for the Department of Education, therefore they developed various platforms to make sure that education will continue, and no one will be left behind. They implement subject integration with the intention of reducing the workload for both the teachers and the learners. Additionally, it aids in improving the learner’s comprehension, retention, and application of the fundamental ideas. In relation to this, our school held a SLAC on Strengthening Subject Integration on Performance Task.

The lecturer went over the objectives and rationale while also administering a pre-test to determine our prior knowledge. She then talked about how we would combine each subject with one another and develop the performance challenges required for or appropriate for each subject. Additionally, she emphasized the need for rubrics in the performance assignment so that both the teachers and the learners could easily judge one other’s work. Additionally, she stipulated that the performance task needed to be localized. Performance exercises can be used to get pupils interested in their lessons. Students are frequently motivated and engaged by such “real world” problems because rich performance objectives create authentic contexts that reflect genuine applications of knowledge. The group activity makes the webinar more interactive and collaborative. Each group was expected to develop a performance task that combined the third quarter skills for each subject at each grade level. The rubrics were clearly described as well. When creating performance tasks, everyone demonstrated their effort and dedication. Integrative assessments are important because they allow students to demonstrate learning more easily against program level outcomes than through atomized modular assessment regimes, allowing for the demonstration of knowledge and understanding with breadth and depth of subject.

The educational session helps everyone better comprehend how the subject integration on performance tasks will benefit us in the new normal. Teachers must face challenges and change with a good attitude and collaborate for the benefit of their charges.
