Basically, the teachers of the 21st century have shifted from the conventional mode of teaching to a more world class and relevant endeavors under the newly enhanced basic education program otherwise known as the K to 12curriculum.
It is much expected that the teacher of the K to 12 Program entails such revitalized strengths and qualities to adhere to the challenges and expectations from the current educators of our generation. To wit:
A K to 12 teacher is extremely well-prepared and well-organized. As a K to 12 teacher, you need to plan very well before you face the K to 12 learners. Organize the lessons with corresponding instructional materials that would yield better learning to the pupils. It is for a fact that the learners nowadays are more inquisitive and interactive that is why you need to plan ahead and accomplish beforehand the materials required in the execution of the mandatory knowledge and skills that the pupils owe to acquire and imbibe.
K to 12 teachers need to possess a very strong interpersonal skill to successfully engage and motivate young students to learn.Teachers should build strong relationships with students and engage with them directly in order to effectively establish rules and order for a better learning environment. Having a constant and consistent communication with the learners can create an atmosphere of openness and harmony in the class. Furthermore, K to 12 learners will be more active and dynamic if they are well-motivated by K to 12 educators.
K to 12 teachers must emanate overflowing enthusiasm for teaching, especially with young children. The interest and passion for teaching must radiate from the ways the teacher exhibits individuality as an educator. He or she must pay more attention or diligence to the profession and to the duties and responsibilities the job demands. The evidences of enthusiasm are reflected in teaching with fervent manner, in handling the class keenly and in dealing pleasantly and vibrantly with all the stakeholders.
K to 12 teachers must establish excellence in everything. Mediocrity has no place in the heart and mind of a K to 12 teacher. He or she sees to it that quality education to the utmost level is being bestowed to the learners. Furthermore, developing the crafts of the pupils in all aspects must be given emphasis.
K to 12 teachers must be well-abreast on how to develop the learners holistically. The cognitive or mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and all other aspect must be developed, directed and enhanced to the fullest. The prowess to mold them in variety of ways should be given focus to enable the learner surpass the tests and challenges of time and of the real world.
Significantly, teachers nowadays must be strong enough to meet global standards and be in one with the curriculum known as the K to 12 Program.
