STRESS is not what happens to us, it’s our response to what happens and response is something we can choose- Kit Loran
A working individual can easily have stress, it goes without saying. Notably the sector of Education represents one of the most critical sectors when speaking of work related stress. Once high level of stress among teachers were confirmed by many studies concentrated on identifying and investigating key stress factors among school teachers.
Being an Educator is such fulfilling job one could have. However we can’t deny the fact, which we teachers often times faces a difficult working environment. Some the stress factors, are maybe first, the never ending paperwork. It now became our daily routine, but sometimes it is just too much for us handle. Especially when the deadlines of each paperwork is too close to each other. Let us not forget a teacher also needs to prepare for her class at the same time. Second, lack of funds and resources, as much as we wanted to give the best experience to our learners we can only do much and what is within our reach. It is not new that educators always have to pinch in some of their own money then and now to provide the best and quality education each learners deserve. Third, the mask a teacher has to put on once they are inside the classroom. Teachers is viewed as a person to look up to when the students are not with their parents, we set aside our own problems and try our hardest to help our students in every way possible and sometimes the weight of the students problems is also on the teachers shoulders.
And for this, the mental health of an educator is very crucial, one must be tough enough to face all of this. Being this in this sector, An Educator must loose themselves in stress and overwork themselves. Find and outlet to relive yourself from fatigue. Know your limit, pushing to our limit is not always good, especially when our health become at risk. Know when to stop and breathe from all the paper works.Enjoy your weekends. This doesn’t mean we are neglecting our job. This is just a proof that we are also human, we get tired, we burned out from the things we love doing. But having a little “ME” time doesn’t make us love it less. For us to provide the best quality education and be at our best we must take care of our self physically and mentally. Remember Mental health is just as important as physical health.
