In the Philippines classes begin in June every year, but the pandemic struck the nation hard and because of that the lives of every Filipinos get affected in terms on daily life, the workplace, and educational institutions. In this new normal, the Department of Education developed various learning modalities like face-to-face, modular, blended learning, radio based and tv based.

In the School Year 2022-2023 the classes in the Philippines start on September, and it will end in July 2023. April and May is the hottest month in the country and it is also called SUMMER days, wherein you can see the people in the swimming pool, beaches or other water fun activities because during these months the weather will increase the temperature at 50˚ C, but because of the sudden change in the Department of Education school calendar days the April and May falls on the 3rd and 4th quarter of the school year 2022-2023 where in the students and the teacher will stay in their room during this summer time. The question now is the school design for the summer class?  Is the school capable to ventilate the classroom temperature or not?

The Department of Education gave the school principal discretion to decide what learning modality is required based on the climate in their location. The school head came up with the idea of blended learning, where students only attend class in the morning and in a modular setting in the afternoon. They believe that this concept will help in the health and well-being of the students and the teachers.

As a teacher, I can attest that the summer months are extremely dangerous for both the health of the students and the teachers. In addition to the fact that many students get sick due to the temperature in the classroom, many teachers also experience hypertension during these times, and they frequently experience dehydration and heat stroke due to the extreme heat.
