Today in this world where everything happens instantly and can change in just a blink of an eye, it is vital to be alert by always keeping the whole body healthy. In this pandemic, everyone is encouraged to live a life that gives value to the health measures and protocols needed to stay safe and alive.

The Department of Health accentuates that aside from wearing a face shield and mask to avoid Coronavirus, one of the simple but good ways to prevent the illness is to properly wash hands. People usually touch their eyes, nose, and mouth without even realizing it, and can get into the body, making us sick. These microorganisms from unwashed hands can be transferred to other objects and then transmitted to another person’s hands, making them ill. Thus, teaching every individual the significance of handwashing helps them and their communities stay healthy.

Aside from that, undermining physical and mental health requires good personal hygiene. This means that all the body’s external parts should be always healthy and safe. Some of the most basic ways to practice good hygiene are to take a bath every day, brush one’s teeth at least twice a day, and wash one’s hands. Inability to make it a habit may lead to illnesses and detachment.

Hence, under the Deped order no. 14, series 2020, all schools in Balanga City strictly follow the said directive to ensure the safe return of learners, teachers, and non-teaching personnel this school year. Furthermore, several activities like the Feeding program and Wash in School (WinS) are always implemented and monitored to support school-based nutrition programs and services. The feeding program hopes to enhance learners’ understanding, behaviors, and practices through continued nutrition and health education. Meanwhile, WASH in Schools promotes good sanitary habits by increasing access to and maintaining safe, gender-inclusive sanitation services.

Let us all continue to educate every learner by involving them in various health programs in school, especially during these trying times.

Maintain a handwashing routine.

Make good hygiene a habit.
