We, teachers, are images of discipline. We are even regarded as enforcers of good behavior on to our learners, which is indeed second to our list of priorities of why we teach.

In establishing discipline and satisfactory behavior on our students, long temperance should be part of our nature. But as of the record today, students are good provocateurs. They are highly skilled in arousing anger and displeasure from us by this misbehaviors and misconducts inside the classroom especially during discussions, and these commonly disturb the whole class. And so, we should impose disciplinary actions or reinforcements to end those unnecessary acts. But what if it did not shown any result? The use of mouth is of no use. No word has made them still and even. Would that be a sufficient ground for chastising them?? Would it be reasonable enough to take them by the hand?? To whip them with a 2ft by 2.54cm stick?? To throw them chalk or the dusty eraser? Guess not. For a teacher should not and never be a chastiser.

Instead, in handling infractions and misbehaviors, we should still maintain a complete composure and remain calm with the student. Do acknowledge them instead with verbal praises with a plain or even tone to correct inappropriate behavior. Also, it would be a good thing if we post rules and penalties. In doing so, we should fairly penalize those who break the classroom rules. If necessary, we can even report the problem to the parents to help us carry the undesired condition.

We need not to chastise our students just to discipline them. There are various ways of reinforcements for good behavior. As teachers, we should always provide positive and friendly l          earning environment to our students in any instance for this is a vital factor affecting their learning. So take note, we, teachers are to teach and we are no CHASTISERS.
