TEACHERS MUST AVOID THE MANAÑA HABIT

One thing that other teachers should resolve to change is the mañana habit.  It is very harmful for the success of a teacher, especially those aspiring for promotion. One thing that other teachers should resolve to change is the mañana habit.  It is very harmful for the success of a teacher, especially those aspiring for promotion. Why put off for another day the tasks we can accomplish today? Even if “tomorrow is another day” there may be new tasks to be done tomorrow so do all the jobs that need attention. For example, urgent reports.

Another bad habit to throw away by a teacher is that feeling of fear when assigned a certain task that is rather strange or new to us.  Accept it as a challenge, not a problem to solve.  Anyway, that job will never come our way if we are not willing to dare will always remain at the bottom of the heap.  Inject enthusiasm in performing the seemingly unfamiliar task for “enthusiasm makes a strange job interesting.  It is the fundamental spirit back of the Good Turn.” And remember Hannah More’s good words on enthusiasm: “The keen spirit seizes the prompt occasion, makes thoughts start into instant action and at once plans and performs, resolves and executes.”  Let us inject more enthusiasm into our system to liminate the feeling of intimidation and fear when faced with difficult tasks.

Teachers must discard totally the ‘crab mentality” in your system.  It is a very harmful attitude.  Remember Seneca’s word’s on envy? “Envy is the practice of the multitude to bark at eminent men as little dogs do at strangers.”  If we keep sowing  tntrigues about others who are succeeding in their fields of endeavor, we are bound to be labeled envois for it will only poison our thinking. Avoid wounding others.  Instead of spreading ugly rumors about them, let us do our best so we can equal to them, let us do our best so we can equal to them

Another noble resolution is to honor every commitment we will make. If you know you can’t deliver, then do not commit.
