Education is very important to every individual. That’s why the government is doing all the best practices and programs to attain their ultimate goal of a person. We all know that being a teacher is not just attaining a particular degree. It is a noble profession wherein you can have to sacrifice everything, pass the necessary professional examination and apply those skills, knowledge and attitudes acquired while studying. Being a teacher, he/she must be a model to everyone not only for the students but also to the community as whole. He/she must possess the right attitudes in dealing with people in and out of school. The teacher must show to the community how to interact with them correctly. The teacher should shows to the community the correct behavior in dealing with people. Not all people in the community can understand the actions of the teachers. Some of the people interpret the way teachers acted in some situations experienced in the community. That’s why some of the teachers are confused on how to act in a certain situation that the people around them will not be affected in their actions. But, how can a teacher be a model in the community? What are the qualifications for being a good model? As teacher, we must see to it that we act according to the environment we are engaged. Being part of the community is not a simply role of the teacher. The community looks to us as a role model not only for their children but also for the people around us. They say that”once a teacher always a learner”, we also learn from the people surround us. We are attached in the community we belong. We communicate to them for the welfare of the students. We seek help in the community for the beautification of the school facilities. We joined in the community program such as coastal clean-up, feeding program, tree planting and the like. In that way, we expose ourselves as a teacher in the community. Can we say that we serve as a model in the community in that way? Who can identify a good model in the community? As a teacher, I can be a good model in the community in serving the students what they need in learning. I can be a good model be imparting to them the knowledge and skills they need as part of their needs as a students. Be a friend to them in times that they need someone to talk to and a listener in a particular situation. Sometimes, a simple playmate for them to know that you are not always a teacher but a playmate that they can count on in times they need someone. Some ways on how to be a good model in the community is that a good model inside the classroom. If the students learned from the teacher good information they go in the community handling the ideas imparted to them. In that way the teacher spreading the good attitudes that can be manifested in the students’ activity.  In that manner, I can say that being a good teacher inside the classroom is a simple way on how to become a model in the community. Being a model in the community is part of being a model in your co-teachers.  Teachers serve as a model in the community through a good communication with the people in the community. They should have a great impact not only for the students but for the people in the community on how to be a good citizen and allow them to be part of being a good model. The people in the community can admire the teacher that exerts a good attitudes and behavior while they are in the teaching-learning process. It’s for you to discover on how to be a good model in your own community.
