Ever since COVID 19 vaccination in the Philippines which started in March 2021, over 13 million people received the first two doses while roughly 11.4 million have been fully vaccinated from the virus.
Front liners, senior citizens and persons with comorbidity have been the priority of the roll out. It seems like the teachers are forgotten at this difficult time. They are also at risk every time they transact with their students or their parents or even their colleagues.
It seems that this is a problem of teachers nationwide. Teachers are waiting patiently for their schedule. Are they waiting in vain? Online registration was to be accomplished but the confirmation text never comes.
Local officials should look into this. Hopefully, they will also act positively favorable to the teachers. We have to remember that they are the ones who deliver the knowledge and skills to our young ones. They are the ones who hone their given talents. Who will teach our child the way they do if they become ill? Government should also protect them specially in this difficult times. Who will protect them? We can’t blame them if some divert to other career or line of work or worst, leave the country for better health benefits offered by our neighboring countries. Let us protect our teachers, NOW!
