Teachers should create an atmosphere which is conducive to learning. Proper ventilation, arrangements of chairs, sitting orders and a free hazard classroom environment should be provided. However, an atmosphere which has brought by teacher’s trait can bring an atmosphere to motivate learning.

Research studies have shown that teacher influences students’ achievements and attitudes as a direct person who gives an authority and serves as a role model in front of the class. As Henry Adams stated to his quote, a teacher affects eternity, he can never tell where his influence stops.

Survey is also conducted wherein one hundred (100) students selected randomly from high school are interviewed. They utter that the teacher’s personality encourage them to learn. In fact on the checklist provided, ninety percent (90%) of them tells that they like the teacher who is not easily irritated with their flaws and attitudes – a teacher who has a strong personality in giving orders but still knows how to mingle and laugh with them.

A flash of anger brings a feeling of uncomfortable and dependable. Students are not able to decide for themselves thinking that their ma’am and sir will be angry to them. On the other hand, a teacher who is moody gives a feeling of resentment, confusion, and instability. On the part of the teacher, it makes her inconsistent. When she is happy she is kind, she’s a monster when she’s not in the mood. It ruins her classroom management plan and interaction with the students.

Another teacher’s negative attitude is being overly sensitive. Students are typically naughty and noisy brought by their age and brought by the environment that up bring them. With these students’ manner, a thought of the overly sensitive teacher thinks that the students disrespect them. She tends to seek revenge against her students.

Lastly, a teacher who is pessimistic and easily frustrated thinks that students cannot do a challenging task. Students must be given challenge which makes them feel excited and gives them a feeling that they are trusted. On the other hand, they need to be motivated – setting a high expectation is good although don’t be too lonely and disappointed when the students don’t achieve your expectations. Still, give commendations and praises for the good points they have done. Give suggestions for a better result to the upcoming activities. Also praise those slow learners who give a try.

The manner you present yourself in front of the students have a monumental effect on classroom management – more so than most teachers’ realize stated Michael Linsin.  If you can resist with one or two traits mentioned above, then you’ll be a more effective teacher.

Closing your eyes, visualizing yourself calmly and thinking that you can manage the class confidently, these are simple best ways to lessen teachers’ negative traits.
