It was a very nice experience attending the training that was conducted by International Youth Fellowship a month ago. This made me realized how lucky I was to gain such understanding. I cannot deny that I was inspired, motivated and challenged.

The World of Heart. The question of “who is dragging us?” attracted me most. As I saw the title, I wondered how world would be a world of heart. Seeing those familiar and unfamiliar faces beside me, I asked myself “Is it possible to change one’s heart? Is it promising to fill the emptiness of hearts? Is it likely eliminating hate from within and just be happy with the world of heart?”.

It was interesting and convincing to have this world of heart by educating the minds of the people like us, teachers. But first, we need to know the Six Stages of Mind Flow.

According to our speaker, Cho Gi Chun, Director of the International Mind Education Institute (IMEI) Philippines, the first stage is about the “self-trusting heart”. In this phase, the tendency of people was emphasized. Some people used to remember their achievements well and forget about their mistakes. A person who is oozing with confidence may believe he is good or maybe he is the best. If this is so, he will surely arrive at the second stage.

The second stage of mind flow is the “Negligence”. Too much confidence of someone will make him insensitive that will result to believing that he can fix everything. He can justify whatever he believes right, and from this fact, the third phase comes.

Failure is the third stage of mind flow. It is because of negligence, possible lapses may be incurred. A person may suffer failure. Failure may cause stress, confusion comes in. Temporary defeat is what he suffers. This will cause him “pain” which is the fourth stage of mind flow. Naturally, if somebody is pained, subjectivity prevails. Poor in decision-making and self-centeredness maybe observed from him.

The fifth stage goes with “regret”, thinking what is supposed to happen if only he had focused and considered different possibilities. This is the stage where the “what ifs” arise.

Reflecting to the experiences is a “blessing”, the last stage of mind flow. In this phase, we will be able to go through the past undertakings and will not let it happen again. Acceptance of mistakes and learning through experiences are considered blessings. Being responsible in every action is also having a mind that reflects and a heart that cares.

Moreover, the second speaker, Abraham Nam, president of IMEI stressed that mindsetting leads the people to reach the true happiness.

Different people have dissimilar perceptions in life. Some are optimistic in the sense that they see their goals possible. Most of the positive-thinker individuals are successful.

On the other hand, others are pessimistic in such a way that they view things as difficult and impossible to achieve. They see too much barriers so they choose to give up or not to take the risk at all.

Our future depends on visualization, on shaping dreams. Being on the undesirable mind setting, negativity follows. It is believed that what is in our mind, we act. Whatever actions we make conforms to our mindset of reaching our dreams.

Proactivity states our freedom to choose. It is within our power to act on our choices. As teachers, we understand that we are responsible in all of our actions. Success and failure are just results of our choices. We are the writers of our own destiny. Let us embrace the challenges instead of avoiding them, persist the obstacles rather than to give up easily. Acquire learnings from criticisms and failures rather than blaming others. Inspire ourselves with the success of others instead of being insecure and hopeless. Let us have positive mindsets, be assertive!

Furthermore, the facts on the delusion of a partridge signify the elimination of the wrong hearts or wrong doings. It emphasizes the righteousness of the people.

Some people choose to be happy in any way they want to. A person who decided to give up his righteousness thinks widely in the sense that he expects a positive result even if he’s doing wrong. He is open with too many possibilities that are in favor to him. This type of person enjoys life to the fullest without thinking on his dignity and pride as a human being. Longing for own happiness without thinking its consequences is the reason why many people live without integrity.

On the other hand, a person with self-righteousness considers limited outlook in life. He just thinks through the “righteousness” itself. Wrong is wrong, immoral is immoral and forbidden is forbidden, nothing more and nothing less.

Let us take care of the goodness in our hearts and throw away the darkness or wrong doings. Consider what God expects from us before making any decision. Ask for His guidance every time we feel the emptiness and sorrow. Live our lives with His words so that we become deserving with His love and blessings.

In addition, the concept of a three-leaf clover set the happiness of hearts of the participants. A three-leaf clover is an ordinary leaf that you may see in Korea. Most of the people there search for luck in the presence of a four-leaf clover.

All of us wants to be happy in life. We always aim for the best career, ownership and luxurious life. But, how many times did you ask yourself on what will truly makes you happy?

People used to search their own happiness in different forms and different levels. A beggar will be happy if he receives alms or food while a rich man wants a plenty of food and additional wealth. A poor boy wants a bicycle as his service while a rich man wants another car for luxury. All of them are looking for happiness in the form of fulfilling their needs and wants. The question is, do they really get the happiness with all these material things?

We will be able to sense the happiness if we have the heart that feels it.  If we only valued the presence of the light and the darkness, the water and the wind, the plants and animals, the people around us and other creatures of God, we would be satisfied. When we appreciate the goodness of our fellowmen and when we are able to see the countless blessings that God gave us in everyday life, our heart will be contented. Let him be in our hearts and we will surely feel the happiness that we are longing for.

Lastly, the thing that caught my attention more was the Kangaroo Care. Kangaroo mothers used to put their babies on their pouch to show their love and care for them. In the pouch, the baby kangaroo feels safe and warm. They are free from other disasters that they may encounter outside their mothers’ pouch.

As teachers, please join me to commit ourselves to internalize teaching and living with a heart for us to produce responsible  and successful individuals.

This is what the teachers should do. Let us set our minds that whoever we are, whatever status we enjoy, developing the students holistically is the outcome that should be.
