Learners must be equipped with computer literacy skills. Learning about computer technology is considered as indispensable for survival in the field of education. One of these technologies is the use of video lessons in teaching. Through this strategy, students can grasp information in multiple forms. By nature, learners are easily attracted to visual presentation; they can see the images in motion with matching text and sounds. According to studies, people will generally remember 10% of what they read, 20% of what they hear, 30% of what they see, and 50% of what they see and hear. Therefore, viewing video lessons will offer significant learning’s. Learners must be equipped with computer literacy skills and electronic media literacy for the following reasons:
Video lessons promotes teacher effectiveness, provides greater accommodation of diverse learning styles and another one they increase student motivation and enthusiasm. How can teacher enhance the learning value? It’s important to plan ahead to consider instructional goals. A teacher may prepare by previewing the program. Determine the setting and length of the video and the setting clear expectations for students. Likewise, the teacher may encourage students participation through setting the context before viewing. To enhance this, strategy is pausing during the program to ask key questions and priority topics.
Experts reveal that adding sound to still pictures results in greater learning than merely adding motion. Combination of sound lecture still or moving images is more effective than merely adding motion.
Many classroom teachers are now teaching with the use of video lessons. We cannot do away with the use of technology at present, so sort of reminders, if you are not yet computer literate why not attend trainings for a quality teaching.
