The introduction of hardware such as computers, and of software has changed organization of classroom management or our ways of learning and teaching. Man interacts with machine in a new way, technology pushes the limits of education and education pushes the limits of technology.
Basic information becomes available through audio cassettes, video, video disc, CD Rom, cable TV and internet. Each type of media also provides option on how to strengthen learning.
The individual can work with computer – aided instruction at his own pace. One can watch, listen, talk or unite in relation to the lesson in the computer in learning language. Through internet, one can access to any part of the world for information. The learner has control of the interactive environment to suit his particular style of learning.
Just as the world of learning is changing, so is it in teaching. Multi – media is opening new horizons for teaching. The teachers becomes not just the purvetor of ideas but also a facilitator, coach, manager and mentor.
Just like the students who has access to information, he learns how to manage information and to be a learner.
Since the multi – media material raises the curiosity and interest of students, the teacher is also forced to raise the level of competency.
Multi – media also helps in gaining efficiency in managing classroom and preparing lesson. Using internet as the medium, lessons are readily available in subjects ranging from art, music to physic. In addition, teaching can collaborate with other teachers and administrations across the globe about lesson, questions and project ideas.
This is the world of information, technology and interconnectivity we are non and this will continue to our world in the next century.
