It is hard to implement in secondary educational institution especially when it is public one. Financial assistance seems to be the major problem and you cannot avoid complaining to the government because until now they still can’t address such problem.
Educational setting is now on its modern phase, however, we cannot deny the fact that many public institution especially in the rural area are still struggling to achieve such phase. But, I know problem regarding technology implementation arises from the faculty working on the public institution as well.
According to the interview made by my assigned Student- Teacher in one of her academic requirements, she asked some faculty members about the barrier of technology implementation and I was in awe when my ST shared one of the responses which says:
“Kauna- unahan na ako diyan kasi zero knowledge ako sa paggamit ng computer. Mayroon kaming training kaso pag and kasama mo ay marunong bilang teacher, nakakahiya namang magmukhang walang alam. Then, nagkakaroon lang ng training pag may budget kaso nung training namin ang tinuro lang ay kung paano buhayin at patayin and computer. Tinesting lang yata kung gumagana ang mga bagong computer. Saka pag wala kang sariling computer o laptop, hindi mo rin magagamit at mapapapraktis ang knowledge mo.”
Though I cannot blame them for such weakness for I know many of them suffer the same fate especially the senior ones. But, as a teacher, we should teach ourselves to develop positive attitudes towards learning new technology because we have to adapt to the modern educational setting and be flexible for this kind of advancement.
We have to be knowledgeable to the new fad so we can relate and understand our students. Though it takes time and effort to study the technology, we must explore it for our own good as well. After all there is no loss in trying and technology can be our friend so there is nothing to be fear of.
An as the saying goes, “The only constant thing on this world is change,” we cannot stay the way we were and there is no better time to start learning technology but today and I am very willing to lend a help.
