Tabula Rasa..The mind is in its empty state before receiving outside information, much like a children’s mind… As we all know today’s generation has a high level of dexterity. Their clever skill of thinking and acting quickly allows them to be capable of finding needed information from TV, cell phones or internets.
Bounded use of gadgets can be quite useful for children to keep them up to date with the current technology. However, there is a widespread belief that the overuse of these advancements can really hamper their development in the personal growth, communication and education.
Though it has given us numerous perks and endowments we cannot deny the fact of its negative effects.
Children nowadays spend twice as much time they spend in texting or internet games as they spend in school. They get frustrated whenever they are asked to do anything while playing or using internet. Misunderstanding arises between parents and children because they tend to get mad easily for the reason that they don’t want to be interrupted with what they are doing i.e. texting, surfing the net etc.
Poor performance in school is very evident since they tend to spend more hours in surfing the different media sites rather than reading their notes. Their tolerance is vanishing quite increasingly due to the improper use of technology. Also due to the excessive usage of online chatting and shortcuts, the writing skills of today’s young generation have declined quite tremendously. They also lack hours of sleep, they are very enchanted and engrossed with what games they are playing and the like.
Parents and Teachers should work hand in hand to help and guide the children to use technology in a more productive way. Technology is a necessity to survive and flourish in this age of advancement; however, parents and teachers should help and guide the children by keeping an eye on its excessive usage.
