Social networking sites are very useful when it comes to communication. It helps us to be acquainted with old friends. We will be updated with the life of others. People will spend few seconds, few minutes, couple of hours and before they know it they’ve spent the whole day looking at someone else’s newsfeed. We sometimes forget the people around us, our family and friends, the real ones. We spend time with our gadgets but do we spend time with our loved ones?
If you’re going to ride a bus or train, no one will talk to you because everybody is busy with the companionship of their best buddy – the gadget. Do not try to approach the person next to you because he is probably busy listening to his favorite music. You are excited to go home but when you get there you’ll see your brother playing league of legends beside your mom who is busy commenting on the new photo that her friend uploaded few minutes ago. Is it really useful? Does technology helps us to communicate?
According to Matt Mullenweg, developer of WordPress, “Technology is best when it brings people together”. How come it is not happening? Is it technology’s fault that people are not united? Or it is the people abusive use of technology?
We are living in a fast changing world. Technology runs everywhere. They said that technology helps us to make life easier. It helps us to do task faster than doing it manually. Before, if we had an assignment we need to look for the answers in the books at the library. But now, life is easier we can always search in the internet and technology giant Google will immediately give you the answer. “Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master”, says Christian Lous Lange. Excessive use of technology can harm you physically and mentally. It is indeed useful but we need to know the proper use of it. That is one thing that we can learn in school. School can help us to be technological savvy. Do not abuse the use of technology. It is intended to help people, to motivate them, to bring them closer and not to destroy them.
