Are you aware of the 10 Commandments to become a successful teacher? The following will surely help you.
- 1.Thou Shalt Trust Thy God.
In everything you do, put god first. Trusting God means you have to give all your cares to Him without any doubts. Calls Him and have faith and trust on Him. He is your strength, your hope, your solid rock. Just commit all your plans and trust.
Teaching is the vocation. He entrusted to you because He believes that k you deserve it too. Just do your task well and trust God that He is always there for you. Have faith that you are not alone in your struggles in the teaching field.
- 2.Thou Shalt Love Thy Work And Build Excellent Work Habits.
Phillippians 2:14 says “Do all things without murmuring and disputing.” Do you work wholeheartedly as if you are doing it for Lord?.”
Our goal in teaching is Quality Education by nurturing your mind- filling their minds with facts and knowledge and filling their hearts with love. According to Schreiner, “it’s not a matter of will but a fascination of the mind”. If you love your work, you would not need to order yourself to watch it. You could do it naturally because it iswhat your mind says.
- 3.Thou Shalt Love Thyself.
Health is wealth; health should be on your mind because health is life. Remember you are a teacher. The future depends on your hands. Knowledge is power, so knowledge about health is more power. Eat nutritious foods. Sleep well, take a nap. Relax
What else? Your dress up can make an impression that can launch or sink you. Dress appropriately. Use closed shoes to hide your untrimmed and unpolished toe nails. Do not forget to put color on your face that will make you look attractive. Keep in mind that your personal appearance is a very powerful way of communicating to other, especially to your pupils.
- 4.Thou Shalt Love Thy Boss.
You do not need an enemy; all you need is an administrator to help you to guide you, to be your comrade your partner in your journey in teaching. Keep in mind what the Bible says; Love on another as you love yourself. Be submissive to your boss. Love him/ her with all your heart, get known to be as Madam Lovable to him/ her. Be the kind of teacher who, when given an extra job by your boss will get it done not only correctly but certainly on time and better yet, early and best still with LOVE.
- 5.Thou Shalt Be a Team Player.
No man is an Island, No one can stand alone. Life in teaching is all about teamwork. Cooperate with your co-teachers. Everyone has to work together to achieve the objectives of the DepEd, to attain its mission and Vision. Teamwork means that even the star player cannot just go off and do his own thing. Once agreed to, the coach’s orders must be followed or the game plan falls apart.
Participate and Cooperate.
- 6.Thou Shalt Give Your Best Shot.
Have faith in your abilities. Believe in yourself. Giving your best will always make you a winner in your heart and in the heart of others. Do not say that you cannot do something before you actually try doing it.
Be confident. Trust yourself more, forget about conscious thought so that you could give your best 100%. Be the best you can be.
- 7.Thou Shalt Persevere!
The secret of a successful teacher is willingness to sacrifice (service), to the risks and face its consequences (courage), have the power to endure pain and suffering (strength), maintain high standard of morality (ethics), have a creative mind and heart (aesthetics). In short really want to be a successful teacher, you will not miss this number 7 commandment.
- 8.Thou Shalt Keep Thy Learning Curve Up.
Benjamin Disracti once said, “as a general rule, the most successful person in life is the person who has the best information”.
As a teacher, try to grasp the best information about something the best you could. If you want to climb the ladder of education, you have to spread out like Ivy.
You become truly valuable to your teaching field when your expertise is not isolated and confined to just your own. You also become imminently promotable and be successful.
- 9.Thou Shalt Remember That Quality Education Is The Battlecry
Our department is in business to make and promote Quality Education, not to lose it. Every single step you take in the teaching field should help the DepEd stay and promote its battlecry. You will really become valuable and possibly even be promoted.
Education is not selfish, share what you have.
- 10.Thou Shalt Keep Personal Life Personal
This may be the last commandment but it means a lot of things. It may sounds funny to you but never forget in the teaching filed, any personal information you give to your co-teachers could be used against you. Do not confide your fears, lack of confidence and health problems to anyone but your most trusted, tight-lipped friends. And do not necessarily think you can confide on those you believe are above such petty behavior
