DIVISION OF BATAAN: THE 2015 Alternative Learning System Festival was quite monumental. It was engendered under the Informal Education Program especially for OSY and Adult learners with the main purpose “to develop their physical, emotional, social and mental capabilities”. The ALS Division of Bataan Group headed by Dr. Milagros M. Peñaflor together with Mrs. Sylvia V. Loyola, Bernadette D. Delizo and the ALS Bataan Team were so enthusiast to pursue the event. Moreover, they were so eager that the second installment of ALS Festival must be more exceptional that the first one.

The event was settled through group deliberations and monthly conferences from July to October 2015. During the development of the event, the group has decided to put additional twists for the festival by including the “Palaro Ng Lahi” segment or bringing out in the event some selected Pinoy Games like Patintero, Tiyakad (kadangkadang), Sipa, Tug of War (Hatakang Lubid) and Marathon (Pabilisan sa Pagtakbo).

Everyone was excited from learners’ participants to ALS Implementers and Supervisors because the competitions from the first ALS Festival were also included in the event. The likes of Essay Writing Contest, Slogan Contest, Quiz Bee, Poster making are traditional for Educational Integrated Competition but having the Mr. and Ms. ALS Beauty contest makes it more sensational. The DepEd Schools Division Office of Bataan make the 2015 ALS Festival official through D.O. Memorandum circular to be held on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Greenhills Resort, Abucay, Bataan.

They begin the event through Civic Parade composed of 3 Teams; the Red Team, Blue Team and Yellow Team in which comprised the 12 districts of Bataan. The Districts of Abucay, Orion, Samal and Pilar were name under the Blue Team. The yellow team includes Dinalupihan West & East districts, Hermosa and Orani Municipality. The ravishing districts of the Red Team were from different municipalities of Mariveles, Limay, Bagac and Morong. As reminder, all the competitions are for fun and friendly purpose only.

The opening activities were splendid as expected as the emcee took the stage of Greenhills Resort, Abucay and Bataan. The academic competition were first held and simultaneously executed. The Essay Writing, Poster Making, Quiz Bee and Slogan Writing were participated and performed by contestants from different district to represent their own municipality respectively.

The Mr. and Ms. ALS Beauty contest provides good vibes in the audience. The beautiful Muses and handsome Escorts introduced in wearing their Sports Wear. The panels of judges from Integrated Competitions are lineup of  Education Program Specialist of School Division Office of Bataan; Sir Jerry Diwa & Sir Romeo Layug (Poster making/Mr. & Ms. ALS), Sir Eric Simbol & Mam Mila Calma (Slogan), Mam Jacquilyn Tuazon (Quizbee), Mam Ilynne Samonte (Essay), Ma. Theresa Perez (Mr. & Ms. ALS).

As the second part of the event were successful, the most challenging “Palaro ng Lahi” segment are participated by different learners from different districts but this time, they’re representing their designated Team respectively. The Tiyakad (kadangkadang) headed by Tournament Manager (TM), Sir Rowin R. Sanchez of Morong District, Patintero headed by TM Sir Victor R. Lazaro of Orion District, Marathon with TM Sir Ador S. Cruz of Dinalupihan West District, Tug-of-War with TM Sir Nelson I. Manuel of Dinalupihan East District and Sipa by TM Sir Albert J. Mallari of Samal District were concurrently implemented.

As for the ending, the most awaited moment was arrived; the announcement of winners of the 2015 ALS Festival! Here is the recapitulation of results:

As they declared the winners for the 2015 ALS Festival, we can feel from the audience that they are happy and satisfied with the result. The purpose of the friendly competition was successfully done. All winners awarded by giving each of them a certificate of recognition. The sportsmanship of all the participants was prevailing throughout the competitions. Everything was achieved specifically that we bring ALS learners and implementers together again. And, with this positivity, merun pa ‘tong kasunod!
