Being an administrative officer in a prime public secondary school is indeed not an easy task. Much so knowing the voluminous paper works and keeping school records, one has to be competent and efficient in the performance of his job.

With this challenge an administrative officer may encounter, he has to have an idea about task analysis.

The concept of task analysis is very much applicable in business, industry, military and learning institution. This analyzes what a user is required to do in terms of actions and/or cognitive processes to achieve a task.

A task is broken down into logical sequence of steps necessary to achieve an intended outcome. By analyzing an administrative task into skills required, an administrative officer can pinpoint problems areas, make appropriate corrections and make sure your staff have the necessary skills and sub-skills to complete the task.

Detailed task analysis is conducted to understand the current working system and the information flows within it. Theses information flows are important to the maintenance of the existing working system of the non-teaching personnel and may be incorporated or substituted in any possible new system.

Task analysis also makes it possible to design and allocate tasks/assignments appropriately within the system. It is beneficial for it provides knowledge of the tasks that the employees wish to perform. Thus it is a reference against which the value of the working system can be tested.

Summarily, the duties and functions of any administrative officer is really taxing and multifarious.
