All of us are born to serve a purpose. Purpose is significant in life, for without it all things will be in vain. Similarly, a full-blown tree will not grow sturdy and tall if not for its humble beginnings so with leadership.

There is no one who is born a natural leader. With glimpses of leadership traits may be, but all will depend on how a person leads life to take the lead role. Good leaders develop in time. Like the sturdy tree, a person who aspires to be a good leader has to start with his own humble beginnings. The deep rooting for growth is similar to taking in the counsel of the passing of time.

As a leader-to-be, a person has to maintain the discipline in oneself to overcome the changes that go from within and those that are spontaneously presented by the environment in which he thrives. A big boost in solidifying such aim is in the firm belief that inspirations are in bounty from the outside of oneself, meaning from others who went to the struggles and made achievements for themselves.

Leadership in the first place is neither about the title and prestige it brings, it is about how he influence his subordinates and the integrity of the person. An old Greek proverb vividly simplifies an ideal leadership which I quote , “ It is not what they profess but what they practice that make them good.”

Good leaders aside from practicing moral and ethical norms are not easily swayed by the negative opinions from others.  Instead of backing off or retaliation, their sense of level headedness is on improving their craft. Another attribute of top level leaders is their firmness that in whatever they say or do comes the assurance that quality and standard are the benchmark of their work.

Leadership in itself is a sustaining process. It may be difficult at times to be up the ladder. Inevitable are its ups and downs; it is when mistakes are treated as an ally that give way to improvement. Failures are also indispensable in being a leader, thus; overcoming them is the most fulfilling part. Most of all good leaders acknowledge that respect is always due to those who follow him because he is no leader without them.
