Social development is defined as putting people at the center of development. This means a commitment that development processes need to benefit people, particularly but not only the poor, but also a recognition that people, and the way they interact in groups and society, and the norms that facilitates such interaction, shape development processes.
There are many influences that affect the social development of a child. But still the teacher and the school also plays an effective role in order to develop the social development of a child. School teaches children about society and helps them learn to find their place in it. They should be encouraged for unbiased social interactions in school through different co- curricular activities. Exposed them in outdoor social events to know the different cultural pattern and life styles of different people. All the experiences children have at school help them to learn about social rules and relationships. Having clear and positive rules and policies, providing an integrated social and emotional learning curriculum, and supporting children’s social needs and relationships are some of the important ways that schools can support children’s social development.
