Sometimes it is easy to overlook simple and trivial things around us. But some of these simple mundane things can actually affect us in many ways. Take the classrooms for example, it is a daily part of a school setting yet there is a deeper more complex theory behind it. The visual aspect of a classroom or any learning environment is considered as the ‘physical’ environment, according to Peter C. Lippman an architect in New York, the simple structure of a learning environment can affect the learning efficiency of the students that use it. The way the windows and doors are placed and the amount of light and ventilation can make a classroom conducive to learning. But in some cases the room structure is already set and it is not practical to renovate just to accommodate the right structural design, most especially in our country where there are areas that lack proper classrooms.

But that doesn’t mean that teachers can’t innovate to make the classroom more advantageous for learning. The placement of different stimulus inside the classroom can help increase the enthusiasm of the students; it also gives them something to look at during breaks and free time. Pictures with definitions and trivia can instill curiosity. An achievement corner can boost confidence and give students a sense accomplishment. Colors and decorations abets to make students at home and gives comfort.

Of course the following should always be done in moderation since excessive visual projection can also act as a distraction. It is also best to teach the students how to maintain and take care of the classroom thus making it a harmonious relationship of sorts.
