THE EFFECTS OF TECHNOLOGY TO LEARNERS

The study habit of learners nowadays has changed a lot. From the flickering light of a candle to florescent lights. From sitting under mango trees as the educational setting to well structured classrooms. From looking at pictures in books to seeing 3-dimensional videos of things we are curious about. Life nowadays has really improved but what are its effects on learners?

The competition to win students attention is becoming tougher for educators. The onset of television shows, the games in the computer and the wonder of video game centers have captured the learner’s attention away from studying. Staring at the discussing teacher gives boredom and leads them to think of something else. Apparently this effect can be called lack of concentration. Their minds ponder on their favorite shows, that they will be more alive and interested if the discussion is about        “ Marimar and Kokey” than the law of gravitation.

Spelling and grammatically correct sentences seems not that necessary when cellular phones and internet chatting emerged. As long as one understands the essence of the topic it is already fully accepted.

Study habit of the learners has degraded. Burning  the midnight oil is seldom observed in learners nowadays. They can do homework’s in front of television, copy and paste researchers from the computer than carefully and patiently read and research in encyclopedias and books. The ease of doing these school works contributes to the tardiness of pupils and lessens their initiative to independently learn.

Technology has helped the students a lot. It has made lessons easier, communications faster, outputs better. However, technology becomes a factor in making pupils lazier and machine dependent. According to study, at the age of 6, pupils must be able to process millions of information in their brains so that they will get used in studying, thus turn out smart. The unused cells in our brain at the age of 6 eventually die.

So to grow up smart, use technology up to its proper extent. Leave the rest of the work to our mind and be smart too.
