Over the years, our lives have been made easier and more convenient upon the advent of technology – technology which changes and evolves so quickly that before you have actually enjoyed your latest cell phone, there’s already another edition of such – newer and with better features; before you have even mastered a game in your PC, there’s already another game that’s been trending among the young and old alike.
Before, studying was like burning the night lamp. You will have to go from one library to another to research for your homework or to turn the pages of your thick dictionary to look up for word meanings.
Now, all you have to do is to touch the screen of the LCD of your tablet or to touch the keypad on your cell phone or laptop and you can have all the answers that you need.
These days, as long as you have internet connection at home or you have got the money to visit a computer shop, everything you need to inquire about will be at the tip of your fingers.
And how does this technology change the Generation X?
How many of the young kids today still have much time talking with their family or cracking jokes with friends face to face?
How many of these young kids still develop study habits to read their notes after school and to review before a big exam?
How many of these young kids still care about what they watch online – is it for kids or for adults only?
Do you know how many young kids watch pornography online? Or through phone videos?
Do you know how much time they can actually spend playing with their computers that they would even forget their meals unless someone literally or figuratively takes them away from the computer?
Some kids do not even know our National symbols. Ask them for our national sport or game and do not be surprised if they answer you with “Minion Rush” or “Candy Crash” or latest version of Plants and Zombies.
Ask them of our national heroes and some kids would even mention “Iron Man” or “Superman” if not David Beckam or Kobe Bryant.
That is how the new technology works negatively. If only people would be able to learn how to this technology positively, then most probably, we can have a better world. Don’t you think so?
