Anywhere in the country garbage disposal has been a major concern in classrooms, households, barangays, towns and cities. It creates subsequent irreversible effects to the environment that cause much destruction on properties and even lives.
Who are responsible? Clearly we are all contributors of the great volume of garbage being seen along the roads, rivers, streams and seas.Despite the law, ordinances and sanctions put in places, citizens are still unaware of such consequences if they fail to do so.
On the part of the government, this problem incurs much budgetary allocation especially in the municipalities and cities in allocating, hauling and dumping to strategic sites.Such amount would have been utilized for more fruitful projects that will favor the welfare of the citizens.
Setting aside these conditions, are there still chance to address this perennial problem? Looking back to the old saying “It’s difficult to teach old dogs new tricks”.If that so, let’s focus on the young kids, when given proper training not only in their home but in school regarding the importance and benefits of proper waste disposal may turn into positive result in the near future that will surely lessen if not to eliminate our waste problem. Hence, the basic education teachers play great role in developing these young kids who will be the prime players of the society in the future. The relevant training they experienced at their young age will be part of values that they may share when they become responsible and cultured citizens of this country.
